Im sick and my date is not too far off!!!

Sooooo I am extremely worried what this means!! It started as a head cold Saturday (4days ago) and i have felt M.I.S.E.R.A.B.L.E. Today i have had a nagging tickling sensation in my throat and when i cough it hurts my throat and my head, so now im kind of thinking it has transitioned to bronchitis!!! So i googled bronchitis and it's symptoms and yeah it sounds like maybe acute bronchitis and said there is no medicine to treat it, it should go away in a few days, but the cough may be around for a while!! YUCK!! SO i guess i am wondering when I go in for my pre-op, are they going to tell me they cannot do lab work because it will not be normal with a virus or it is too close to surgery and they cannot do the procedure with me being sick!! How strict are they as far as having a cold/bronchitis and surgery 3 weeks away??  I plan on calling the office tomorrow, but i am curious!! Thanks for any info.

So sorry you're feeling yucky!  I'm glad you're going to call the doc tomorrow; I'm sure s/he will be able to give you some answers. Three weeks is a good amount of time to recover from some viruses and respiratory illnesses.  There are some GREAT medications for bronchitis, if that's what you have. I'm sure your doc will be able to help you figure out what you've got and whether it can be healed up before your surgery.   Get well soon!

Jami, I would make an appt to see your PCM and see if it is bronchitis.  I get bronchitis just about every time I catch a simple cold...it royally sucks.  Anyway, I've always been given antibiotics for it...and that has been the only thing that has helped me get better.  So, if you have bronchitis, it's definitely treatable!  One of the tell-tale signs for me is always coughing up yellow/greenish mucus & an extremely sore/tight chest.  Go get yourself checked out and see what it is.  :) If you find out it's just a severe cold, I took these cold-ease cough drops when I got a cold this last time, and it didn't even last a week!  No bronchitis for me this time...I will definitely be taking them again! I hope you're feeling better soon!

Definitely go see your PCM.  If it's bronchitis they can treat it.  You're not going to want to have a cough after surgery, that's for sure!  I think 3 weeks is probably enough time to recover.  But, the sooner you treat the bronchitis, the sooner you'll get better!  Good luck!

Hey, Girl!  I'm so sorry to hear your still feeling bad.  See your dr asap. so you can get this taken care of and get better for surgery.  I had a little cough the day I went in for surgery and told the dr and they still did the surgery and everything went great.  You should be fine by surgery.  Just see a dr as soon as you can.  The sooner you get meds the better!  Take care! Oh Jami so sorry you feel so yucky! yes go to the doctor and let him get that mess treated because March 5th is RIGHT around the corner!!! WOOHOOO

Thanks for your replies You ladies really are wonderful!! I normally go to bed at 2:30am, I am a night owl..the last 2 nights I have been down for the count by 10:30. That's when you know Im sick!! I had a really rough night last night and with a little sleep woke up this morning and felt somewhat better...My 4 day headache had finally eased!!!! YUCK!! But i have a harsh sore cough, so Im definately thinking i will still call the Dr. what can it hurt, right?! Thanks again for caring  :) Happy Wednesday to ya! I'm going to get this mess cleared up, fingers crossed!
